Races at Corwen Walking Festival

Corwen Walking Festival is a celebration of the magical countryside that Corwen resides in. This small Town nestles in the Dee Valley and under the watchful eye of the Berwyn Mountains and as well as the twenty seven different walks that we offer, twenty six guided and one self led, we also offer Races and Sports Activities for people to come along and take part in. These allow people to again be outside in the glorious Welsh air taking on a different sort of challenge.

8.00 am Race Briefing

9.00 am Race starts

11.00 am Prize giving

The race will start on the playing fields behind the Sports Pavilion in Green Lane. The race will start with a lap of the playing field and then turning left up towards the Leisure Centre. Once this has been passed the route will follow a piece of the old Railway Line and then onto a trail which gradually inclines taking you to the back of the hillfort. On entering the gate the hillfort awaits! The major assault on the iconic hillfort starts and as your lungs burn you will realise just why the ancestors of Corwen chose this hill as their home. Once you hit the top and are around the boulder the first drinks station will meet you here, you will veer left onto private farmland where another small lung opener is in view. Follow the markers to the gate and make your way down through the young trees, through a gate at the bottom which opens out onto a piece of bridleway and then onto a footpath to start your small accent back around the base of the hillfort. The decent route repeats approximately the first 1.5 km before completing a final lap of the field before finishing the race.
